What are surfactants?
Surfactants, short for surface-active ingredients, are the platform molecules used to make valuable consumer products that penetrate surfaces and lift stains and debris. Consisting of a water-soluble head and a water-repellent tail, they act as detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers and more
What kinds of surfactants does Sironix make?
Sironix makes surfactants from 100% plant-based materials. Our molecules are plant-based furans—unique bio-based monomers that formulators incorporate into their products to replace petroleum-based (and potentially carcinogenic) materials.
What feedstock does Sironix use?
We preferably use plant sources that are non-competitive with the food supply chain and don’t contribute to environmental damage such as deforestation. Examples are soy and algal oil.
Are Sironix's surfactants safe?
Our surfactants do not result in toxic byproducts such as 1,4-dioxane, nor do they require the use of ethylene oxide. This makes it a safe alternative to other commonly used surfactants.
